Art Show Reception

Last night was our opening reception for "CARVE" which will become our annual art show to raise money for the new park. It was a huge success and we thank everyone who came out to support us. It's still open and will be open for another 2 weeks, so if you didn't get a chance to come last night, make sure you check it out. You can bid on many of the boards down there and buy raffle tickets to win one of 2 skateboards donated by Quins and Sports Authority.

LOGO

The Valley Skatepark Association (VSA) needs a logo!  We need something black and white, simple, and something that can easily be drawn.  Send us your ideas and maybe your design will be the next logo!

Skate Competition

It's August, which means Hot August Nights is right around the corner.  And THAT means the skate comp is, too.  Come down to the park the afternoon of August 23rd and participate in everything going on!  There will be a skate competition, raffle, food, and drinks that will last until 9 or 10pm.  So come down, text and IM your friends, whether you skate or not, and help support the fundraising of the new skatepark!

8 decks are already sold!!

8 of our decks have already sold!  The decks that have been sold are: the black and white sailor girl deck and the colorful fish deck by Josh Corder, 2 of the "girl" decks by Jaymee Dever,  the 3 deck series by Pubs, and the Samurai deck by Craig Whitcomb.  Thanks so much for those who have already purchased a deck.

Spread the word to anyone who might be interested - and anyone who might not be interested - that there are still lots of decks available.  These are awesome decks by talented artists with all proceeds going DIRECTLY to the new park.  Thanks a lot!

Sunny Days

Sunny days are here again - - - time for some skateboarding!  Starting NEXT week (that's May 18th) we will have a weekly game of S.K.A.T.E. - it will be each Sunday at 4:00pm.  If you want to play, it costs $5 and the winner will walk away with either 1/2 of what we raise that night or a prize.  So come out, support the VSA, and have some fun.

Each dollar we raise brings us closer to a new park!  If you have any ideas and want to have a fundraiser, let us know and we can help you get it going.

A Few More Boards

I know these aren't the best pictures, and they totally don't do the boards justice, but we had some issues with light and space available and holding the boards up.  But anyway, thanks so much to Luke Thomas who did the red deck and Pubs who did the set of 3.

Earth Day Clean-Up

On April 20th (that's a Sunday) there will be an Earth Day clean up down at the Lewiston Skatepark from noon until 6:00 pm.  There will be hot dogs, soda, and possibly a skate/bike comp.  Come down and help clean up the park and have fun while you do!  This isn't being put on by the VSA - it's being put on by a parent of a skateboarder in the valley, so if you have any questions, you can email us and we'll relay the question on to him.

Spring is in the air...

Spring is finally here, which means warmer weather and better days to skate.  That also means that the time to start fundraising is back, so if you and your pals have an idea for a skatepark fundraiser, run it by us and we can help you plan it out and get it going.  Your fundraiser can be anything from a concert to a car wash to going door-to-door.  We've had a hard time getting people really committed to raising money, so if you are willing to help, email us and give us your contact info so we can get ahold of you when we need people!  Every once in a while, we go door to door  selling t-shirts and really appreciate the help.  Speaking of t-shirts, they are on sale for $10, so tell all your friends!!

Art Show

We finally have a date for the art show, so mark your calendars!  The opening night will be the Monday before Hot August Nights weekend down at the Lewis-Clark Center for Arts and History in downtown Lewiston.  This is going to be an awesome event showcasing artists from around the area who have donated their time and talent to raise money for our new park.  We have seen about 1/2 the decks already and are stoked for you all to see them, too.  Don't miss opening night - we'll have food, drinks, skate videos and music!!  Here is a sneak peek at what you'll see:
